Meet Dr. John Shefferman

I am very active in continuing education, regularly attending orthodontic and dental conferences and study groups. Each year, I complete over 80 hours of continuing education—five times the annual requirement—to ensure I provide the most up-to-date clinical methods for my patients. I have also received specialized training in TMJ disorders and am recognized as one of the top 50 Invisalign® providers in the country.
I have been practicing in the Washington, DC, area since 1990. I lecture frequently to orthodontic groups and dental societies, and serve as a consultant for dental continuing education study groups.
I am very fortunate to have been rated as the “#1 Orthodontist” in Washington, D.C. by Consumers Checkbook Magazine, and for the past 30 years, I have been voted by my peers as one of the “Top Orthodontists” in the entire Washington, D.C. area by Washingtonian Magazine.

Outside the Office
I live in the Washington, D.C. metro area with my sons, Jason and Kevin. I love spending time with my kids and joining in their activities. I also enjoy tennis, golf, skiing, cycling, model trains, and movies. When I have free time at home, you’ll usually find me tinkering with or fixing something around the house.
